No Sew Axololt Pattern

 

Materials:

-      2 colours of yarn (and a little bit of black for the mouth)

-      Crochet hook corresponding to the yarn you are using

-      Stitch marker

-      Scissors

-      Safety eyes

-      Yarn needle

-      Polyfill

 

Abbreviations:

MR- magic ring

Ch- chain

Sc – single crochet

Dc – double crochet

Hcd – half double crochet

Inc- increase

Dec- decrease

Ss – slip stitch

FO- fasten off

 

This pattern is worked in a continuous round, DO NOT join at the end of each row.

Starting at the top of the head – Main colour

Row 1: 10 sc in MR (10)

Row 2: (inc, 1 sc) x 5 (15)

Row 3: (inc, 2 sc) x5 (20)

Row 4: (inc, 3 sc) x 5 (25)

Row 5-8 (4 rows): 25 sc (25)

Row 9: (dec, 3 sc) x5 (20)

Row 10: (dec, 2 sc) x5 (15)

Row 11: (inc, 2 sc) x5 (20)

Row 12: (inc, 3 sc) x5 (25)

Row 13: 8 sc, 4 dc in same stitch, 4 sc, 4 dc in same stitch, 11 sc (31)

Row 14: 8 sc, dc dec with all 4 double crochets from previous row, 4 sc, dc dec with all 4 double crochets from previous row, 11 sc (25)

Place safety eyes between row 5 and 6, in line with the arms. (Place eyes 5 stitches apart from each other) Embroider the mouth with the yarn needle below the eyes.

Row 15-17 (3 rows): 25 sc (25)

Row 18: 8 sc, 4 dc in same stitch, 5 sc, 4 dc in same stitch, 10 sc (31)

Row 19: 8 sc, dc dec with all 4 double crochets from previous row, 5 sc, dc dec with all 4 double crochets from previous row, 10 sc (25)

Row 20: 25 sc (25)

Stuff the head

Row 21: (dec, 5 sc) x3, dec, 2 sc (21)

Row 22: (dec, 5 sc) x3 (18)

Row 23: (dec, 5 sc) x2, dec, 2 sc (15)

Row 24: (dec, 5 sc) x2, 1 sc, (13)

Row 25: (dec, 4 sc) x2, 1 sc (11)

Row 26: (dec, 3 sc) x2, 1 sc (9)

Stuff the body

Row 27: (dec, 1 sc) x3 (6)

Row 28: 3 dec.

Now to make the gills – second colour

Ss with the second colour between row 2 and 3, approximately 4 stitches away from the eye. See picture

*Ch 5, sc in 3^rd ch from the hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 1 sc onto row 4, see picture, ss onto row 5.

Ch 5, sc in 3^rd ch from the hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 1 sc onto row 6, see picture, ss onto row 7.

Ch 5, sc in 3^rd ch from the hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, 1 sc onto row 8, see picture, ss onto row 9.

FO*

Repeat for *to* on the other side on the head

Tail – second colour (Each “stitch” for this part in one row vertically.) see picture

Ss into row 22, ch 2, 1 sc, ch 1, 2 dc in same stitch, ch 1, 1 sc, ch 1, 2 dc in same stitch, ch 1, 1 sc, ch 1 (you should now be at the peak of the tail. See picture.

3 dc in the same stitch (peak of the tail), ch 1, 1 sc, ch 1, 2 dc in the same stitch, ch 1, 1 sc, ch 1, 2 dc in same stitch, ch 1, 1 sc. FO.
